If you think of Calvary as a colorful puzzle with lots of pieces, right now there is a big piece missing. That piece is young families.
I recently attended a 2-day workshop called Growing Young put on by Fuller Youth Institute, Pasadena. It is based on a book called Growing Young by Brad Griffin and Dr. Kara Powell, the Executive Director of FYI. It was held at Bel Air Presbyterian Church and was an amazing experience. This was the best takeaway: Growing Young is not a change in your youth ministry but a change in the culture of your church. That is so you can begin to intentionally get to know the youth people in your midst and invite them into the ministries of your church and even leadership.
There are six strategies that will be used to implement the concept of Growing Young into Calvary and some of them we are already doing. But there is more to be done. I want all of you to know more about these core strategies so that you can be a part of bringing Growing Young into our mission and ministries in a more focused way.
My second class will be held on April 28 at 11:15 a.m. in Milliken Room so put it on your calendar. Please RSVP so I can plan. See you there!
